Runner's Interference

Umpires and coaches should know that it's "the act" of runner's interference that's the infraction, and is not dependent on any actions or outcome after the interference. This video is a perfect example.

Infield Fly in Effect, Runners Int.

OBR rule set, on this runner's interference/IF play, once the RI happens it's a dead ball, but time is not called until after fair-foul is determined. So, technically an OBR runner's interference/IF play is     not an "immediate"dead ball. That being said, after the RI takes place all other playing action (except for fair-foul) is to be ignored.

Runner's Interference

Types A/1 or B/2 Obstruction

Type A/1 Obstruction happens when a player is being played upon and the obstruction immediately happens. It is an immediate dead ball

NfHS does not have Type A/1 Obstruction

Type B/2 Obsrtuction happens when a player is not being played upon and the obstruction happens. The ball stays live in play, until play has stopped.

In NfHS all obstructions are considered Type B/2, and are a delayed dead ball as stated above.

Know the Difference

Never rely on sports announcers, they seldom know the difference.

Batting Out of Order

Batter who should have batted is called out.

After batter who should have batted is called out, the batter who singled leaves the base and returns to bat.

(Proper) Batter who should have batted is called out.
